Fi and I love to travel, but we're not big into sitting around doing nothing. We love experiences, museums, fun things to do and places to eat. And we're known for making some rather oddball choices for places we choose to visit.
Yes, why not spend some time in the city where anything can and will happen, where vehicular mayhem is a constant and murder is a pastime that's casually ignored as soon as people's bodies disappear from the middle of the street a few minutes after death. Of course, on its own this is more something out of a travel advisory/list of great national tragedies, but in the confines of the bulletproof, nigh-indestructible Popemobile, a memorable and fun vacation can be had by all!
Hopefully you'll never have to trick a group of homegrown terrorists into letting you out of a bank vault with only a handful of paperclips and a doorstop, but you never know when those skills might become necessary. Who better to learn how to deal with these sorts of situations than world-class spy, Michael Westen? The best improvised gadget man since MacGuyver, these spy lessons could contain information on how to use anything in your surroundings as a weapon or improvised listening device, how to make up fantastical yet believable lies at the drop of a hat, and how to sit in a car for days on end for surveillance without completely losing your mind. Sure, odds on he'll ditch you somewhere for a while with a made up task while he's taking down counterfeiters/dealing with an international conspiracy, but that's the chance you take with learning from one of the best.
On their own, most planets from the world of Star Trek seem incredibly boring, or absolutely horrifying if we're dealing with a planet of the week sort of situation.
I'll be honest when I say that this entire list idea sprouted from the fact that I'd really love to visit an up-and-running Jurassic Park. I mean, sure, we know and love the movies and books because they involve tons of dinosaur chaos and carnage, but who wouldn't love to see a fully operational zoo of some of the most impressive and majestic animals ever to walk the Earth? Who wouldn't want to see a Tyrannosaurus Rex chasing down prey? Who wouldn't want to see a herd of Triceratops grazing on the countryside? Who wouldn't want to see a Brachiosaurus dwarfing building-sized trees as it searches for a meal? Combine this with the fact that the Park itself supposedly boasts a five star hotel with all associated amenities, and a weekend at Jurassic Park could very well be the vacation of a lifetime.
And as always, please drop me a line on Facebook or Twitter! I'm big into liking/following back!
